Kevin Bruner, the former co-founder of Telltale Games, has posted a personal statement on his blog titled “Telltale closure” that addresses developing reports that Telltale Games has undergone massive layoffs, and may be in the throughs of potential closure.
Specifically, Bruner addressed that “today is a very, very sad day” in regard to the news coming in from several sources that Telltale Games may be on the path to closure following recent financial struggles in the past few years. Bruner lamented in his blog that he was “saddened at the loss of a studio that green-lit crazy ideas that no one else would consider,” and added that “sometimes it seemed like we had more than we could handle but we stuck together and forged ahead” in regard to the studio’s workload.
Bruner left Telltale Games over a year and a half ago as he cited “very different visions of Telltale’s future” between him and the company’s Board of Directors, and in June of this year had filed a lawsuit against the company seeking damages for his removal from the board.
Despite the legal complications of the situation between Bruner and the Telltale executive board, which appear to be ongoing at this time, Bruner’s statement does lend more evidence to the recent reports that Telltale Games appears to be on the brink of closure with a reported skeletal staff of about 25 members remaining, though no official word has come from the studio yet on what is to come for the future of the company.
