Halo Infinite – 343 Industries Reassures Fans About Microtransactions

3.5
343 Industries’ Halo Infinite has received a good amount of attention recently regarding a job listing for an Online Experience Design Director. Though first posted in June, the listing only recently gained traction thanks to its mention of microtransactions.

Though the developer has reassured fans that there will not be real-money loot boxes in the experience, that hasn’t stopped many from expecting the worst. To that end, community manager Brian Jarrad took to Twitter to address one fan’s worries over specific aspects of the listing.

He stated that, “I know there’s very little real info to go on thus far, but I wouldn’t worry over a job description. All pretty standard stuff in the industry, doesn’t mean it’ll result in something bad.” While that doesn’t necessarily give us an idea of what to expect, 343 Industries does have experience with implementing microtransactions into titles like Halo 5: Guardians.

While that system had REQ cards and cosmetics tied behind card packs that could be purchased with real money, there were plenty of ways to earn them in-game. Furthermore, the developer brought a boat-load of free content and features to the game in return.

Micro transactions are healthy for a games long term lifespan, but the way they're implemented is what really matters. If it's nothing but cosmetics, in which you can directly buy them with the games currency, then there's no issue, but when it comes to packs and lootboxes that's when it gets a bit questionable for me.

I still think you gonna get Micro's ffs, really can't be asked for this BS.

"there will not be real-money loot boxes"

Then they go and add in real-money loot boxes. Wouldn't surprise me at all

I wasn't a fan of Halo 5's req system, I know it also brought in a lot of free content but it just plagued the entire game and everything was tied to it, I wish they did an armory like halo reach and maybe kept that req stuff to the warzone matches. I just hope they have learned from 5 and tone it down a bit from that game.

100% gonna be microtransactions if you ask me. All games have them.
