Generation IV Pokémon Are Making Their Way to Pokémon GO Soon

Niantic’s Pokémon GO is over two years old now, currently featuring Pokémon from the first three generations as wells as some newer ones like the Alolan forms and Meltan. Today, The Pokémon Company has announced on their official website that Generation IV Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl, and Pokémon Platinum will be available to catch in the mobile game soon.

Specifically, starter Pokémon Chimchar, Turtwig, and Piplup are showcased in the teaser trailer, though other Pokémon from Sinnoh will be added as well. While no specific date was given for when these Pokémon will be added, they did detail some other changes coming to Pokémon GO in the same update that will add those creatures.

When it comes to Pokémon behavior, the weather will have a less drastic impact, there will a noticeable shift in the variety of Pokémon available in a given area, especially when it comes to parks and forest preserves. As for improvements to battling, CP, HP, Defense, and Stamina values are being adjusted to balance the game.

This is good news, with just gen1-3 that's a boat load of pokemon, and when they eventually get the rest of the gens in this game there will be hundreds of hours of content just catching the pokemon.

This is pretty exciting. I'm happy to see they're still putting effort into the game, despite how poorly it seemed to do after the first month. Hard to believe it has been two years since this game released.
