The first thing addressed were the TTK (Time to Kill) and TTD (Time to Death). These terms basically mean how long would it take you to kill and be killed in the game. Basically, the post mentions that they will not be making adjustments to that aspect to Battlefield V’s multiplayer:
“The upcoming Battlefield V Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture Update will not have any changes that impact the current TTK. However, there will be balance tweaks to weapons…”
Reportedly, the development team is always looking into the netcode of online multiplayer and improvements in latency.
Now for the patch notes. The first major change in the update is cutting down the time for the revive animation to get players in control faster. Speaking of heals, the Medic class SMGs are getting buffs to improve its range and accuracy to be more competitive against other classes.
Weapon updates are also piled on. Probably the most notable change is the M1928A1 maximum damage is now set to 25.1 (previously 30). Other changes include increased 3-hit kill range of the Gewehr 1-5 to 30 meters (previously 25 meters). There are also some reload times adjustments and recoil reduction.
Other miscellaneous updates include an “Apply All” feature for weapons skins and Weapon loadouts across all factions. Also mentioned in the update are “Airlifts” which are a type of loot box that will be included with owners of the Deluxe Edition of Battlefield V. Players who have that will start receiving their airlifts on a weekly basis until they reach 20.
Will these changes improve the quality of Battlefield V’s multiplayer? We’ll certainly find out when Tides of War Chapter 1: Overture drops on Monday. If you haven’t already, read up on our review of Battlefield V as well as pick up a copy for yourself on Amazon for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
