EA and Bioware have announced when players will be able to get some hands on time on Anthem outside of the NDA Alpha that some have been playing since last year.
For those who pre-ordered the game or are EA Access (or Origin Access) subscribers, you will be able to play the Anthem VIP demo starting on Friday, January 25 until Sunday, January 27, 2019. For those who participate in the Anthem VIP demo, you will get an exclusive in-game item in the released version of the game. What that item is? Nobody but Bioware knows right now.
Anyone will be able to play the Anthem demo one week later on Friday, February 1 until Sunday, February 3, 2019. Generally with betas the scheduled time is extended by a day or two depending on how popular the game has been. Don’t be surprised when on Saturday or Sunday Bioware and EA announced players will have an additional 24 hours to play the demo.
Both the Anthem VIP demo and free demo’s content will be the same with players choosing either the Ranger or another undisclosed Javelin suit as they visit the game hub at Fort Tarsis and play through the handful of missions selected by Bioware to serve as an example of what the final game will be. Players start at level 10 and will work their way up to level 15 and don’t expect any progress to carry over to the final game.
Bioware has done nothing but talk about Anthem for what seems like month’s now, slowly dripping information about its newest game such as its varying length depending on how you play and teasing the demo as far back as August. Despite some assurances from developers that Bioware’s future isn’t staked on Anthem’s performance, there is still a feeling that this could be make or break for the studio.
Anthem comes on February 22, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
