It seems like 4A Games and Deep Silver are pushing a lot of interesting news regarding their upcoming Metro Exodus which was originally revealed back in 2017 at Microsoft’s E3 2017 Briefing. It was due to launch in 2018 but ended up being delayed to 2019. However, earlier today the official Twitter account is teasing a whole five days of reveals with the first reveal being today.

The first reveal that landed today was be announcing that Metro Exodus will launch with a photo mode on day one. Not many details were revealed such as how the photo mode will work, the distance the camera can travel from the player, and any features we can expect to see.

From snapping your deadliest encounters to marvelling at the world beyond the Metro, a picture says a thousand words.https://t.co/q1tXTeqIyY pic.twitter.com/2O1mdjxtxd
However, the official blog post details that photo mode will be available for all platforms, however, those running the title on a PC will benefit from being able to use Nvidia’s Ansel tool. Ansel usually allows a good deal of freedom regarding camera movement and offers various features such as depth of field, and 4K screenshots and above. It was also confirmed that Metro Exodus will support Nvidia RTX Ray Tracing, which will certainly make some some stunning photos for the PC version of the game.
Apparently, photo mode has been one of the most requested features from fans of the Metro games, and Executive Producer at 4A Games Jon Bloch stated,
“They’re relatively rare in 1st person shooters, but the team have been determined to make it work and give Metro fans the opportunity to capture their own stories from the Russian wastelands.”
