Now the Co-Founder Brian Acton has made some shocking comment about Facebook. Acton, in an interaction with students at Standford University, criticized Facebook for its alleged involvement in selling users’ data and asked students not to use Facebook.
“We give them the power. That’s the bad part. We buy their products. We sign up for these websites. Delete Facebook, right?” Acton said
The Co-Founder had a disagreement with the Facebook CEO regarding monetization in WhatsApp and that led to him leaving the company. Acton was against showing ads inside WhatsApp, he believed they could find a better alternative to monetize the app. As per him, ads inside Facebook means weakening of encryption which ultimately causes damage to the users’ privacy.
Acton also made a shocking revelation. The Co-Founder wasn’t very keen on selling WhatsApp to Facebook, in fact, whether to move ahead with Facebook or not wasn’t up to him to decide. “I had 50 employees, and I had to think about them and the money they would make from this sale. I had to think about our investors and I had to think about my minority stake. I didn’t have the full clout to say no if I wanted to,” Acton said.
