Oxenfree was developed by Night School Studio, founded by Sean Krankel and his cousin Adam Hines, two alumni of Telltale Games and Disney Interactive Studios. It’s a story-heavy title featuring a supernatural theme and decision-based storytelling.
Originally released in 2016 on Steam, the game garnered favorable reviews by critics and players alike. It also won an award in the ‘Excellence in Visual Art’ category at IGF 2016. Here’s how the Epic Games Store describes the title:
Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. Play as Alex, a bright, rebellious teenager who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on an old military island. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a ghostly gate spawned from the island’s cryptic past. How you deal with these events, your peers, and the ominous creatures you’ve unleashed is up to you.
YOU determine every aspect of Alex's story while exploring Edwards Island, uncovering the base's dark past, and changing the course of your friends' lives.
Epic Games Store is offering the game at no cost for the next two weeks for players on Windows and macOS, but it’s worth noting that the game is also available on Linux if purchased via Steam at $19.99. Also available for purchase on Steam is the game’s original soundtrack composed by Andrew Rohrmann, commonly known by his stage name, scntfc.

Processor: Intel i3 2.0 GHz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: 1GB Shader Model 3.0 Compatible (DirectX 9.0c)
