With the rise in Epic Games Store timed-exclusives combined with the fact that so many publishers now have their own digital storefronts, it has somehow become a bit surprising in 2019 when a publisher announces it’ll be bringing all of its upcoming releases to that of Valve’s Steam platform. Today though, that’s exactly what publisher Bethesda has done.
In a new message from the official Bethesda Twitter account, it was announced that almost all of the company’s most notable upcoming releases will be hitting Steam at launch alongside Bethesda’s own official launcher. These forthcoming titles in question include DOOM Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, RAGE 2, and Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. For those who like to make their own decision on where to purchase their PC games, it seems Bethesda is now giving you that opportunity.
In addition, it was also announced that last year’s release of Fallout 76 will also soon be coming to Steam as well. When Fallout 76 launched last November, it was only released through Bethesda.net with no intention at the time to come to Steam. It seems that Bethesda has since had a change of heart though with Fallout 76 now coming to the marketplace at an undetermined date “later this year.”
Even though the news that all of these titles are coming to PC will surely please many, we still don’t have release dates for most of these games mentioned. Hopefully, Bethesda will have more to share about each game though later this summer during its E3 2019 event.
We’re pleased to announce that RAGE 2, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, and DOOM Eternal will be released on Steam as well as https://t.co/p0BARqmTBp. We will also be bringing Fallout 76 to Steam later this year.
