Modern Warfare 3 To Have Limited Party Chat, Better Spawnpoints

Infinity Ward removed Party Chat from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to prevent players from cheating on servers or rig matches, but the resulting complaints have convinced them to bring Party Chat back in limited form for Modern Warfare 3, Creative Strategist Robert Bowling explains:
A major focus of Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer is allowing you to have a lot more control over how you play, looking at those restrictions, and doing away with stuff like Party Chat blocking that's super hardcore. It's about giving options. We will have places where competitive guys go where you might have restrictive voice chat. And then you have an option to maybe play that same mode without the same restrictions if that's the type of player you are.

The only place where Party Chat should be blocked is Search & Destroy and won't be blocked for modes like Domination.

Likewise, he details, in a statement with Kotaku, how Modern Warfare 3 will take a step back from air strikes and killstreaks and return to the original Call of Duty 4:

I feel like it's something we nailed with Call of Duty 4. We moved away from it a little bit with MW2, relying heavily on air support, killstreaks, perks, and stuff like that. Modern Warfare 3, very much [is] building up from that Call of Duty 4 mentality of gun-on-gun, fast-paced infantry gameplay...

The hotspots are a key thing [in] Modern Warfare 3. We went into each map wanting you to be able to turn a corner and know very easily that these are three—no more than five—places I need to check.

For the hardcore guys who have been with us since the beginning, that speaks volumes: the map design, the return to focus on gun-on-gun, all that stuff. I like to always make sure the hardcore players know we're building it up for them.

MuRkxSICKshOT i really think they need to have party chat because what if a friend is playing a differnt game and you want to talk to him what are you going to do
private chat as you didnt say friends and two people can go in private chat wotever

At least I don't have to make an anti-air class like I did in MW2. I hope they do what they say and keep it a 3-5-7 killstreak like they did in MW.
Hopefully the spawns are good so that you cant throw a throwing knife or a tomahawk across the map and get a sorrible opening game kill, or at lest give them less power so they can't do that because that is so unrealistic. I mean come on!


I hate the 3 5 and 7 kill streak. The only people that want this is the ones who could not get any kill streaks in mw2. i say about only 20% of people that play mw2 can get a legit nuke. So step your opinions aside and let the real gamers get the kill streaks they want.

Idk about any of you.. But i only helped friends in party chat when we played Search & Destroy. Like really, who helps on any other gametype? No point in party chat if you cant play at the same time. Also i hate muting kids i dislike hearing..

Infinity Ward should take into account that spawn trapping is a big deal on all of the Call of Duty's. Adding much more spawn points will not only get rid of spawn traps, but it will also stop spawn blocking ; forcing the apposing team to spawn in a certain area of a map. They should also also add alot more spawn logic, ie: On the map "highrise" if a player was standing on the heli-pad, the spawn he was closest to is where the apposing team would spawn. That got very annoying after a bit.

sinistershades Not going to be any good if it goes back to regular CoD 4 style... as long as graphics are better, then the game itself will be good. I still see myself coming back to MW2 and not playing MW3 all that much.


i see myself playing mw2 if mw3 turns out good anyway i still play mw2. it is a great game no matter what some people say

Online mods ruin the game for people who want to be legit, and besides the "modders" in cod4 and 5 are just leechers looking for infections.
