Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling Will Buy Battlefield 3

4.7
Infinity Ward's own Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, has gone on the record stating that he plans to buy EA's monster FPS, Battlefield 3, when it comes out this October. He believes that "if you are a shooter fan, you should be getting both [Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3]."
"If you are a shooter fan, you should be getting both, because they're both going to be excellent experiences.

"But more importantly they're going to be very different experiences. The kind of gameplay you get from Call of Duty is very different from what you get anywhere else and I think that's important. I think any shooter fan would be extremely disappointed if you only got one." But, when it comes to EA's war on Activision's Call of Duty, Bowling believes there's no such thing as one victor in the genre. His comments seem to mirror Battlefield 3's Patrick Bach's comments in regards to the COD/BF3 war:
"Honestly, we're not trying to go after CoD. Of course there will be crossover - it's a first-person shooter, it's modern-day, and there are resemblances on locations, even - we're all inspired by the same media and the world around us.

"We have so many things in our game that aren't a part of Modern Warfare, so it really comes down to personal preference. You choose based on the depth you want, the maturity level, your own personal taste... it's all about how you get your fix."

It seems while EA and Activision (maybe, more so, EA) bang each other's heads into the wall over who's military shooter will take the sales throne this year, the developers could care less and are more interested in shipping the best game they can this Fall. Hopefully this publisher war doesn't reflect on the games themselves and ultimately lessen the quality of these two behemoth titles.

Robert Bowling is another guy who respects the work of other developers and publishers, which I actually like.

He knows it is his competition, but he will still admit to how good a game is. Same as Cliffy B. They appreciate video games in general.

TTG_Roast I'll be getting them both too. Who doesn't love the MW2 engine?

You mean the CoD 4 Engine...
the engine means graphics as well i don't think they're going to go back to cod 4 graphics...

They have been using the same engine for all the Call of Duty games since COD 2, they just keep up dating it and polishing it.

Well why would they make new engine when they already have one that limits them...
example now MW3 is going to run 70FPS on MW2 graphics OR we could take 720p and run it on 30DPS... trust me they would get 720p and 80FPS easily beacuse my PC has same specs as Xbox 360 exept i got more RAM but yeah i get 190-240FPS on MW2....

Yes, they're using the same IW engine, but making new versions of it. CoD 4 was based on the IW engine, MW2 was based on the IW4 engine, and MW3 is based on an improvement of the IW4 engine (not sure what it's called though).

Robert- "Guys, Cancel MW3, were are done"

Haha. I hate the battlefield games tho, I always loved Call Of Duty series. But It's still going to be the same game just like MW2. I mean we all have seen the trailer for it, & The Game Demo @ E3 2011. Face It, >>>>>>>This time Battlefield will probably win.

Why does people pick what they hate and what they like? sooner or later they might just get both of them and switch games time to time.
