Gearbox has announced today that Borderlands 3 has “gone gold,” meaning that the game has finished development. The developer went to Twitter to make the announcement and thanked everyone who helped make the game a reality.
Borderlands 3 was officially announced back in March of this year, and marks the first main entry of the Borderlands series since 2012. Even though the game has completed development for its physical release, there will still be plenty of updates for the game once it launches.

Later in May, 2K and Gearbox held a gameplay reveal event where we got our first hands-on demo with the game. We found the game to be an entry that serves all audiences, though at the gameplay event, only Zane and Amara were available to play.
Most recently, we got to play the game at E3 and said that the game is still “King of the Looter Shooter.” Moze was the new Vault Hunter that was available to play. We have still haven’t seen FL4K in action, which is the character that intrigues me the most. FL4K will likely be shown off at some upcoming event, but what event remains to be seen. Yesterday we received a trailer focusing on Zane and will likely receive one for the other three Vault Hunters closer to launch.
Borderlands 3 is available to pre-order on Amazon and is set to release on September 13 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, exclusively on the Epic Games Store. The game will also launch on Google Stadia with its release sometime this November.
