On August 26, 343 says it will start to copy across the millions of custom maps players have forged. To have their creations uploaded, users will have to log onto the game and ensure local files are uploaded to their file share.
Maps uploaded after that date will not be copied, and the developer encourages players to leave them public for at least 24 hours after then to avoid issues. The creations will be coming to both PC and Xbox One, though the MCC has experienced testing delays on desktop.
Additionally, players may have to back up their screenshots and clips manually, as they won’t be moved directly to the new versions. However, 343 does say it wants to make screenshots viewable on Halo Waypoint, which should be a big help.
There’s no exact word on when the maps and modes will become available on the MCC, but those details should be shared in the future. The process of getting the maps varies between platforms, with a blog post previously explaining:
“There is no work required beyond uploading your files to your file share on all three games. After that, we will make sure they get to the same Gamertag. Simply log into MCC on Xbox when the update drops and the maps and game types will be copied down for you. For PC players who have maps in these legacy titles you will need to load into MCC on Xbox after the update to make these available. All maps and game types that have been copied over will be found in your local files.”
As well as the huge library of custom maps, PC players can look forward to a robust anti-cheat solution and cross-progression with Xbox. Halo Reach is expected first, with other titles coming later in the year. If you can’t wait that long, the SPV3.2 mod for Halo CE breathes some new life into the game.
