Not long after the announcement that Sony had purchased developer Insomniac Games, a new listing for the studio’s most recent release in Marvel’s Spider-Man has now appeared online.
Over on Amazon UK, a new page for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition has now been found. The page doesn’t contain much other additional information such as a price, box art, or even a thorough description of the product. It does however contain a release date, which is said to be September 4, 2019.
As of this writing, Sony hasn’t formally announced if a Game of the Year Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man would be on its way, but it wouldn’t be surprising in the slightest. Marvel’s Spider-Man was one of the biggest games of 2018 and also had a decent chunk of post-launch DLC. Assuming this GOTY edition would include all of that additional content, which it absolutely would, then it’d make sense to see it all arrive in one package.
Considering Gamescom is happening this week, and also taking into account that Insomniac and Sony have already been in the news recently, perhaps we’ll hear more officially about this new version of the game soon. Considering it appeared on a retail site like Amazon, the likelihood that it is real is pretty high, so we should learn more at just about any time.
Until then, you can still pick up the standard edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man now, exclusively on PS4.
