Recently, while speaking in an interview with GamesRadar (which you can view below), CDPR producer Richard Borzymowski spoke about this a little bit more. When asked if players will be funnelled into a particular playstyle if they’ve invested a lot of time and upgrades into a certain skill branch, Borzymowski said that the game would still offer plenty of freedom to go into whichever direction the player wants.
“There’s quite a lot of flexibility,” he said. “We are very often mentioning those playstyles, right? Solo to play fast and strong, Netrunner, and Techie. It’s not like you’re at one point in the game picking one of those playstyles- we’re just naming it like that. You can combine those things. You can build your character in a way that you might be terminator with a spider-bot, with a flat-axe. So it’s all up to the player. If you come to the conclusion that you don’t like shotguns at all, and would rather hack people, just go out there, develop some Netrunning skills, and try if it suits you better.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is out on April 16 next year for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
