Apple touted the 5.8- and 6.5-inch screens of the new handsets, which are similar to the ones last year. The OLED screens have a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, the brightness goes up to 1,200 nits, and its 15% more energy efficient. Apple is calling it Super Retina XDR.
Of course, it includes the new 7nm A13 Bionic chipset, which is also in the iPhone 11. Apple says it has 8.5 billion transistors, and it's 20% faster. Moreover, it's more efficient with four efficiency cores, and you'll get four more hours of battery life in the Pro, and five additional hours with the Pro Max.
And then there's the camera, which is now a triple-lens system. It includes a 2x zoom lens and a standard lens, like there was before. But now, there's a 0.5x ultra-wide angle lens. All three sensors are 12 megapixels, and two of them have OIS (not the wide-angle lens).
There's a new Deep Fusion feature coming in an update this fall. It uses machine learning to take better photos. As Apple put it, it's "computational photography mad science".
All three of the lenses support capturing 4K 60fps video with extended dynamic range. Once again, the Cupertino firm is promising best-in-class video capture, a promise it usually delivers on. You can also shoot with more than one camera at the same time.
