Could The Last of Us Part II Multiplayer Beta be on the horizon sooner rather than later? It's certainly possible.

If you’re a Last of Us fan, as many of us are, then you would have heard that Sony and Naughty Dog are having a media event for The Last of Us Part II on September 24 in Los Angeles. The media event entails members of the press getting a more detailed look at the hotly anticipated sequel and also around three hours of hands-on time. This event will hopefully be a breath of fresh air as what we’ve mostly been feed are rumors on the games’ apparent release date during a State of Play and the possibility we will be getting a release date sometime in February 2020.

Industry insider ZhugeEX took to Twitter to announce that press members will be the first to get some hands-on time with The Last of Us Part II for a whole three hours while at the event which does suggest that the game is in a really strong position and close to the end of development. What this also could mean is that since three hours are readily available for a demo, we could possibly see a multiplayer beta arrive over the coming months. As pointed out by pushsquare, three hours of single-story campaign is quite a large chunk to be shown at this time so some multiplayer content included would probably be more practical.

At Madrid Games Week 2019 next month, which will run from 3rd October until 6th October, Sony confirmed that The Last of Us Part II will be there at the PlayStation Booth with “different experiences” available for both The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding during the fan-focused expo.

This would be an amazing time for Naughty Dog to showcase more details on The Last of Us Part II multiplayer and probably the best timing since they’ve shut down PS3 multiplayer servers for Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, and The Last of Us. With fingers crossed, we really hope to hear of a release date for the sequel and a beta announcement to boot. Let’s start holding our breaths now!
