Ubisoft Says it Will Release 5 AAA Games in Upcoming Fiscal Year

4.3
We likely know four of the five that Ubisoft will be releasing, but the fifth remains a mystery,

Ubisoft announced in its latest financial report this morning that it would be delaying Gods & Monsters, Watch Dogs Legion, and Rainbow Six Quarantine all into next fiscal year. While these delays were the main focus on the latest company report, one other interesting nugget of information was also detailed in the document.

Ubisoft specified that in its upcoming fiscal year, which will last from April 2020 to March 2021, it will be releasing five AAA games. Obviously, we now know what three of those titles will be with Watch Dogs Legion, Gods & Monsters, and Rainbow Six Quarantine. With this in mind, the question though now becomes: what are those final two games?

Well, it would seem that likely one of the final two AAA games here would be that of Skull & Bones. While the game still doesn’t have a specific release window, it has been in development for quite some time and seems poised to release in this next fiscal year window. The last we had heard of Skull & Bones, it had been delayed out of this current fiscal year to an undetermined date. If it doesn’t end up launching in the 2020-21 fiscal year, I would be very surprised.

That leaves us with one other AAA game that could come out alongside these other four. While Just Dance is an annual release for Ubisoft, I don’t think the publisher considers it a AAA title, and therefore wouldn’t count. We also know that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development, but that game seems incredibly far away.

The most obvious answer though, at least to me, would be that a new Assassin’s Creed entry is set to launch next fiscal year. Ubisoft opted to not release an AC game in 2019, which was somewhat surprising considering that it has historically been an annualized franchise for the company. To see that franchise not returning for the second consecutive year would be quite a shock, especially with next-gen hardware coming next year. Plus, we’ve already seen teases of the next entry in the series in The Division 2 and it seems as though it will be related to Vikings.

Then again, maybe we’ll finally see the return of Splinter Cell and Sam Fisher next year. But who am I kidding? That’s never going to happen.

Regardless of what Ubisoft’s full lineup ends up being in its next fiscal year, it seems pretty solid on paper. Let’s just hope that each of these games turn out as well as they have looked previously.

Could be the Avatar game, but I highly doubt it will be releasing before the next movie does.
