PS3 owners shun Modern Warfare 3 pre-orders

Xbox 360 owners might be looking at less killer exclusive games for the Xbox 360 (beyond Kinect and sequels), but in terms of pre-ordering Activision's forthcoming action packed first person shooter Modern Warfare 3, are putting down the cash in their droves.

Like moths to a flame you could argue, but then again, when the experience on offer is this high, why not.

Sadly, Playstation 3 owners are simply not buying into the Modern Warfare 3 hype so it seems, and are either likely to purchase the game when it releases - as there will be no shortages. It also appears that they are not interested in any pre-order incentives. Last week according to the pre-order charts week ending 13th August 2011, the PS3 only secured 17,099 pre-orders. That's very low numbers compared to the 66,000 for the Xbox 360 version over the same weekly period.

Taking the blinkers off though and it's perhaps clear where PS3 owners are putting their money into. With several exclusives on the horizon such as Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3, there's no real reason to invest in a multi-format game at present. However, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception only secured 8,424 pre-orders last week which isn't very good either. The masses of PS3 owners are placing their money into Madden NFL 12 which has a whopping 69,077 pre-orders last week.

We already reported on the differences between Xbox and PS3 consumers pre-ordering habits, and firmly believe that Xbox 360 owners tend to be more forthcoming. Either way, once Modern Warfare 3 hits the shelves, there will be no doubt that the PS3 servers will be very busy indeed regardless of what the pre-order numbers are suggesting.

I lost it at Madden 12. If you want to play sports, JUST GET SOME FRIENDS AND PLAY! I can't just get some friends and shoot the Taliban, or go back in time and shoot Nazi Zombies, that's why I play video games!

more but we pay 604 a year but we get better stuff

why is everyone bitching at the ps3 players just because they dont want to pay a xtra 7 bucks a month for something thats free on ps3 doesnt mean there poor it means there not stupid imo i pay the extra money because i like xbox's online more but its their opinion if u dont like it go **** yourself in a corner

Yet ps3 has been more expensive and has better resale value then the 360 since its been out? Think about this, You can buy a 360 (
the white one) Off ebay for 50 bucks....ps3? 150-200 So 1 360 50$ a year of live 60$ so 110$ still not up to the ps3...another year of live (60$) 160$ still not 200$ yet? I have both so before you talk about fan boy bla bla just look at the facts before you say something is all....crack each one open by far the ps3 is way more advanced


I hate people who says this. 1. The only thing significantly better about the PS3 is the fact it has a Cell Processor instead of a PowerPC-based processor. 2. This doesn't even matter because all the titles that matter in this "console war" bullshit, are cross-platform and work exactly the same on both consoles.


The components in a Playstation 3 are far superior to that in an Xbox 360 console.

The reason for this is probably the fact they've always had to wait a month for DLC after the Xbox 360 got it :)

Sony should start charging for online, so they can actually compete with this kind of stuff.
