Activision published the results for its third quarter in FY2020, and you can bet Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was among the publisher’s biggest talking points.
In a call with investors following the earnings’ reveal, Activision reiterated plans to launch a battle pass for Modern Warfare, and revealed that it’s going to arrive in December, which it says is later than originally planned.
By the same token, the publisher stressed how keeping the community together through the removal of the season pass, as well as cross-play, contributed to strong engagement, though refused to comment on whether revenue will be taking a hit compared to recent years, which all featured season passes.
On sales, Activision said it fully expects Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to be the year’s best-seller on console, and revealed that PC sales saw a 50% increase compared to Black Ops 4.
The first of what Activision says will be many free content drops released this morning in the form of two new maps, alongside a host of balance tweaks requested by the community.
