BlackOps sold over 23 million units and over 18 million DLC in first nine months

There are quite a few folks with either an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops. Just over 23 million, in fact, as of numbers tallied following the first nine months of sales by its publisher. Activision revealed as much during an analyst call this afternoon, showing continued sales growth for the Call of Duty franchise versus install base numbers for the two HD consoles combined.

If that weren't enough, it looks like a huge chunk of those who purchased BlOps were interested in adding to their multiplayer map variety. Activision's numbers show the latest CoD entry as having moved over 18 million map packs since launch (which, priced at $15 a pop, works out to 270 million dollars in gross earnings), 7 million more than MW2 and 9 million more than WaW.

Though the company isn't projecting any map sales yet for the next installment in the CoD franchise, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said on the call, "There's plenty of runway this year, with 20 percent-plus expected growth in the HD console install base alone," referring to the company's expected sales of Modern Warfare 3 this holiday and beyond.

Map Pack 1 - $20
Map Pack 2 - $20
Map Pack 3 - $20
Map Pack 4 - $20 (Unless you bought hardend+ and its still 20 dollars more)

Thats a total of $140 if you but all of them(Before taxes). That ridiculous to play a game. Its a waste of money. Then add in CoD Elite which just about everyone who buys all the map packs will buy. Its a waste of money people! Your feeding them!!!! Maybe if people stop giving them money they will put quality into them so people will pay. This is pathetic.

And to -CoD-, your a idiot. End of story.

Call of Duty only sells so much due to its brainwashed fanbase who will buy anything Activision churns out of their sh*t stained corporal mess of a games studio.

Sales mean close to nothing, it's the actual game that really matters; which is what Call of Duty will forever lack in. If you're a consumer, you don't buy something because it has the most amount of sales.

A reason why they sold over 23 million units is because of the crappy german version of the game. Fact is, that I had to get about 15 other PEGI versions for everyone of my friends and of my clan beause they've bought the german version and I was able to get them very cheap, but thats one of the reasons why they sold so many units. Another reason is, that it's a great game. Especially Zombie mode. But MW3 will outsell BO imo.

Looking at those figures I'd say MW3 can expect to reach close to 30 Million HD units sold (I expect more than 30). There is a trend in those numbers that's how I got those figures.
