Recently, in an interview with Dengeki Online (via Wccftech), Shuhei Yoshida – who recently stepped down as the president of SIE Worldwide Studios – talked about how easy to develop for the PS5 is, and how that quality of the hardware will allow developers to focus more on creating high quality games and experiences.
“[The ease] of making software [for the PS5] is at a level never [seen before],” Yoshida said. “If the difficulty of hardware becomes the hurdle to overcome, [developers can’t] concentrate on making games. Anyway, hardware makes it easier to create games so you can spend more time creating games.”
Yoshida also added that the PS5 has been designed to be developer-friendly just like the PS4 was, but to an even greater extent.
Sony have not yet shown what the PS5 will look like, or told us much else about the platform, but rumours suggest they’re planning a reveal event in February. We know Shadow of the Colossus (2018) developers Bluepoint Games are working on a PS5 game, while “looter-slasher” Godfall was also announced as a PS5 launch title (and exclusive) at The Game Awards.
