Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, formerly known as Project Scarlett, was first unveiled during The Game Awards 2019. So far, we’ve only gotten a taste of what its official specs are and only heard to two games for it: Halo Infinite and Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. While Microsoft did not bring much attention to it, the upcoming system popped up yet again at CES 2020 during AMD’s presentation.
Its appearance was fairly brief in a video highlighting AMD’s various accomplishments and products. AMD confirms that it is handling both the Series X’s CPU and GPU before swinging the model around to show both the front and back sides of the beefy console. As Shinobi602 highlighted on Twitter, the most notable things to come from this appearance as a look at the Xbox Series X’s backside and all of the ports it will have. The video is the first to confirm that the XSX will feature two ports for both HDMI and USB-C as well as ports for a power adaptor, ethernet and optical audio.
•Two HDMI ports
•Two USB-C ports
•Optical audio
•Ethernet port
•Power adapter port
This may feel like a fairly low stakes reveal when Microsoft has yet to fully delve into the console and all of the games it has to offer, but it’s still good to know what the hardware can connect to before it releases. The Xbox Series X and PS5 are both on track to release come Holiday 2020.
