Players can level up in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for PC, PS4 and Xbox One through cooking, obtaining collectibles, training and more!

Late last week, Bandai Namco Entertainment continued to build up anticipation for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot by releasing an overview trailer that was presented under the guise of a class episode preview. Today, another trailer for the game was released. Even though it does not have as charming of a hook, it does go over one important mechanic for any RPG: progression.

The video stresses that while fighting enemies to gain experience and level up works like in any other RPG, various other ways to improve playable characters are present. The first of these training methods that improve Goku and company include eating, which grants both temporary and permanent buffs. While playable characters can eat on their own, it is also possible to visit cooks or go home to Chi-Chi to cook with unlocked ingredients and recipes.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will also feature an in-depth skill tree that is progressed through in a couple of different ways. First, various kinds of Z-orbs are scattered throughout the world and must be collected in order to unlock new skills and super attacks. That being said, some specific skills require visiting one of the game’s Training Grounds with another collectible called D-Medals. Finally, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot features a unique mechanic called a Community Board. Players receive special Soul Emblems as they complete sidequest, and these can be put on the aforementioned board to increase its rank and activate more skills.
