The Call of Duty community has worked together in an incredible way to help provide relief toward the bushfires in Australia. Players were recently able to purchase the “Outback Relief Pack” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare until sales ended on January 31. Activision then reported that over $1.6 million was raised in this process. The DLC package allowed Activision to work with humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief, providing desperately needed emergency and health supplies to those affected by the fires.

The bushfires in Australia became catastrophic, with entire towns engulfed in flames. Several people have lost their homes and lives. About one billion animals have also been affected by the fires, and some that survive in more niche environments could face extinction.

Byron Beede, general manager and executive vice president of Call of Duty at Activision, said, “Players around the world came together in support of this terrible tragedy. We’re honored to help in this effort with the funds from the Outback Relief pack. We thank everyone for their generosity, and we look forward to putting this donation into action.”

100% of the proceeds have been donated, including all sales from the previously released Outback pack.

“This was an astounding act of generosity on the part of Activision and the larger Call of Duty community, and we at Direct Relief are deeply grateful,” said Thomas Tighe, Direct Relief president and CEO. “Most importantly, the Call of Duty community’s amazing support will translate directly into help for people in Australia.”

The cosmetic pack included the Bushranger operator skin, one free battle pass tier skip, a legendary blueprint for the Sniper Rifle Charlie weapon, and a koala charm. It was priced at 1,800 CoD Points (about $20 USD).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

this is great honestly, it sucks to see people hating on them for having so much money as a company and only donating this much, the fact that they even are offering a hand to help in a way that they can, people are so ungrateful now.
