EA: We don’t expect Battlefield 3 to beat Modern Warfare 3

There has been a lot of mudslinging and smack talking between the heads of EA and Activision, where EA folks have repeatedly stated that Battlefield 3 is designed to take down Modern Warfare 3 and that Call of Duty will be over in 2-3 years. That’s EA when they’re speaking in general to create hype around their product.
However, the tone is quite different when they’re talking to investors and shareholders. EA CFO Eric Brown recently told a group of investors that they don’t expect Battlefield 3 to surpass Modern Warfare. Brown said:
“Just to be clear, the [Call of Duty] franchise did about 23 million units worldwide. We don’t expect to surpass them with this year’s Battlefield 3, just to be very clear.”
To borrow the phrase from Brown, “just to be very clear”, no one really expected Battlefield 3 to beat Modern Warfare 3 in terms of units sold, but it will most certainly give it a run for its money. Many industry analysts expect Battlefield 3 sales to top 10 million, and the game is off to a great start, if recent pre-order numbers are any indication: Battlefield 3 has been pre-ordered 1.25 million times to date, with a month and a half left until game launch.

sexandcandy I find it hilarious that most COD fans are ravenous 13 year old kids, that don't know how to spell or back up an argument. I agree MW2.5 will win in terms of sales, because it's COD and the idiots will buy it, but BF3 will offer better gameplay in the long run, although i might admit that i'm looking forward to the MW3 campaign, i still think BF3 will blow that game away.
1st of all half the cod community is over 17 and like to play games based on skill and team work which is call of duty , i dont see why every 1 is hating on mw3 wen clearly we all know your gona get it and dont lie and say only for campain we all know your going true all prestige's you kids should really stop hating and see what's in front of you 2 new games coming out and you just seem to pretend that you hate it :/

I'm not a Cod fan boy but any game that you can see people spawn in the other side of the map and then you can snipe them i would say is a fail! Nearly every battlefield game you can do that in! I'm still going to get the game but think that it's nothing compaired to Mw3. Anyway can't hate on any game until its out dipshits.

Honestly I am a CoD fan more than anything, but I am going to buy BF3 cause I just love great games in general. Like I said I'm a CoD fan, but I honestly think that BF3 will be a better game, but CoD will sale more cause the fan base age is more broad than BF. DICE in my opinion does a better job with multiplayer than IW and Treyarch, but they don't make their game every single year so they have time to take their time and actually come out with new things for their games, if the CoD franchise would come out with a game every two or three years instead of every year and actually put something extremely new into the games then it would be so much more amazing, but they won't ever do that cause Activision only cares about money so they will continue to deal out CoD year after year.

OK I HAE HAD IT WITH THEE FANBOY WARS. The only reason CoD sells better i because it is more hyped. Battlefield is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT KIND OF SHOOTER. You can't just pick it up and play like CoD. Call of duty is a household name therefore is more popular but tell me this. The cod franchise has been almost the exact same since cod4. Mw3 is the first game in the series to bring anything new to the table since cod4. True or false? Now i enjoy BOTH games just as much. Bt the bottom line is the cod franchise is ruined for me by th fanbase which by majority is little kid 16 and below. Battlefield has a strong fanbase and always will have.

Rozy EVERY BATTLEFIELD FANBOY PLEASE SHUT UP NOW! Even the makers of your game said MW3 will win in sales and if they win in sales that means it is better. Its like saying a ford focus is better than a chevy camaro. CoD will always outsell and be better then battlefield games.

because that game just plain sucks the only good thing about it is zombies


Halo 2, Gears 1, Cod 2-4 is waaaay better than BF2. BF2 is trash! BF3 no different.
