EA: We don’t expect Battlefield 3 to beat Modern Warfare 3

There has been a lot of mudslinging and smack talking between the heads of EA and Activision, where EA folks have repeatedly stated that Battlefield 3 is designed to take down Modern Warfare 3 and that Call of Duty will be over in 2-3 years. That’s EA when they’re speaking in general to create hype around their product.
However, the tone is quite different when they’re talking to investors and shareholders. EA CFO Eric Brown recently told a group of investors that they don’t expect Battlefield 3 to surpass Modern Warfare. Brown said:
“Just to be clear, the [Call of Duty] franchise did about 23 million units worldwide. We don’t expect to surpass them with this year’s Battlefield 3, just to be very clear.”
To borrow the phrase from Brown, “just to be very clear”, no one really expected Battlefield 3 to beat Modern Warfare 3 in terms of units sold, but it will most certainly give it a run for its money. Many industry analysts expect Battlefield 3 sales to top 10 million, and the game is off to a great start, if recent pre-order numbers are any indication: Battlefield 3 has been pre-ordered 1.25 million times to date, with a month and a half left until game launch.

Rozy EVERY BATTLEFIELD FANBOY PLEASE SHUT UP NOW! Even the makers of your game said MW3 will win in sales and if they win in sales that means it is better. Its like saying a ford focus is better than a chevy camaro. CoD will always outsell and be better then battlefield games.

You sir fail at representing Call of Duty and should be ashamed of yourself because of the comparison you made. And no I'm not a Battlefield fanboy, I'm a gaming fanboy. Everybody needs to stop talking sh!t period.

You know realize by your logic, you are saying a ford taurus is better than a bugatti veyron.
I was looking through the comments to find his and was going to comment comparing the exact same thing, but i was gonna throw in a ferrari too...oh well

BF3 takes their time to make a great new experience that comes out of their games. Cod is bad. I played every cod and after about 3 months they all turned to crap. Besides Cod4 and below. BF3 looks and sounds great.

Infinity ward knows no matter how good they make the game look before launch. In the long run its going to be bad. Call of Duty turned into Madden. Another Game with a few new things to make it look cool but in the end it turns out sh*t. I could sell anything 1 million times over if it has Call of Duty somewhere.

Everyone who thinks Mw3 looks good is going to be very dissapointed with the game. The Fanboys say "OMG its Call of Duty!" they want call of duty to be good so they keeping saying its going to be the great new thing. When its complete crap.

$60- Mw3
Every Cod Mappacks- $60 or above
= $120 already if you dont buy the new Hardened Edition.

Add in Cod Elite- $200+ More a year for the site.

Make Cod a game every 2-3 years. Like Halo and Gears. Great games every few years.

BF3 will win the war sooner or later after everyone realizes Cod is done for.

Quality over Quantity, that's where it's at. So far, Battlefield 3 has better looking gameplay than Modern Warfare 3, but hey, maybe Battlefield will suck in the end. But all I know is that Call of Duty will be the same it always has been, tawdry and boring.

I'm burned out of COD. I'm not buying MW3 and don't say "You know you're gonna!" I'm not. BFBC2 IMO had so much more to it. ALL OF THIS IS MY OPINION... ALL OF THIS IS EVERYONE'S OPINIONS.

There's not much more they can do the game. They just didn't put any effort into the game, they didn't do everything that the community asked for, and it just looks like the same game over and over again. People buy COD just because it says "Call of Duty".

The community is so well trained to buy every COD game that comes out.

Don't get me wrong, all the CODs have been amazing and I'm sure MW3 will be good as well. But I think this is it for COD...

Rotate Well obviously? If there was a game called Call of Duty: FAT MAN RETURNS! where you were a fat man going to Mc Donald's to get fatter millions of people would still buy the game. Why you ask? Because it has Call of Duty in the title. Either way BF3 will be better.
