Yesterday, February 9, 2020, Steam topped out as 19,107,803 active users logged in. Of those, over 6 million were in-game. That’s the highest concurrent count ever recorded for Valve’s platform.
Likewise, Valve competitive shooter CSGO also hit its all-time peak the same day. CSGO’s previous record was 854,801, recorded in August 2012. Yesterday there were 901,681 players in-game, with around half of those players enjoying the game on official servers.
CSGO hasn’t even had a huge content drop to lure players back in, it’s just a timeless classic doing its thing. Perhaps as shooters all move away from the space it inhabits, people’s tastes are beginning to pine for a dose of classic shooter action.
At the time of writing, 458,439 players are checking corners and landing headshots in Valve’s FPS.
As we predicted yesterday, both @Steam and @CSGO have again passed their concurrently online players peaks.
