Xbox Live on Windows 8: True Cross Platform Gaming

As was revealed by the Major earlier this week, Windows 8 touts heavy Xbox Live integration among its Metro layer's key features, but beyond the fact that it exists, little else was mentioned about the PC implementation of the console ecosystem. Thankfully, Microsoft's Build 2011 developer's conference has shed some light on the app, and it's pretty darn Xbox Live-y from what we can tell.

The app utilizes the Metro UI found on Windows Phone devices and features pretty much what you'd expect: friends lists, leaderboards, fauxhawk-sportin' avatars, etc. Music and Video tabs were spotted but not demoed, and while real-time cross-platform multiplayer is still anyone's guess, Microsoft did laud the architecture's asynchronous multiplayer "between two Windows PCs, between Windows and a phone or between Windows and the Xbox 360." Pretty slick stuff for those out there who've had to suffer the slings and arrows of Games for Windows Live.

Umm no? I've been on this site for over a year and i havent
even hit 1000 posts yet for the same reason as this dude. Recent members thats only been on this site for like 3-4
months have got over 3000 posts because all they post is
"wow" "amazing" "lol" followed by :D :( ;) . Pisses me
off

We should all get angry and scream at people for their weak unintelligent comments. Rofl copter away!!!!!!

oh god its gonna be easy to see whos playing on console and whos playing on pc. pc gamers are going to have such an advantage over the console players.

The problem is Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot, given the choice between Keyboard/Mouse and controller majority will opt for the Keyboard/Mouse which has a huge advantage making any games unbalanced if that is going to be the case.

Yeah I see how intelligent your post is...

Back to the topic if the console players would play against PC gamers it wouldn't be that much fun because if you play with a mouse you can react much better and faster then someone who plays with a controller.

Well I don't see this working well cross platform

Like take cod series games for example the guys on the pc will have a advantage with the guys on the console

Because with the controls of the mouse VS the joystick etc

The mouse wins :)
