Streets of Rage 4 will be out on April 30 on PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC for $24.99. The sequel was first announced in August 2018 by Dotemu and Sega with a really cool trailer by Bobby Prod, the animators behind Lastman. Now, we’re finally only a few days away from the game’s release after 2 years of wait.
Streets of Rage 4 is the first game the iconic beat ’em up series is getting in over 25 years. It brings back the trio from the very first game: Blaze Fielding, Adam Hunter and Axel Stone, along with two new characters. The cyborg Floyd Iraia and Adam’s daughter Cherry. All the soundtracks and playable characters from the past three games are included as well.
The game supports two-player online coop and up to four-player offline coop.
Streets of Rage 4 will also have the Battle Mode from SoR 2 and 3 back. This allows players to fight each other in an arena with or without items and hazards. It was always a fun mode to spend a few rounds on after clearing a run in coop with your friends or family.
Xbox Game Pass owners will also get Street of Rage 4 for free on Xbox One.
Not only Yuzo Koshiro is back, the game has BGM tracks from other legendary composers such as Live A Live‘s Yoko Shimomura and Jet Set Radio‘s Hideki Naganuma.

Streets of Rage, known as Bare Knuckle in Japan, had three episodes released by Sega on Megadrive in the early nineties. The series engraved itself into the souls of players worldwide thanks to its incredibly fun and nervous gameplay and its amazing soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro, one of the best scores ever made. The series is highly popular in regions such as South America. In France as well, for a multitude of reasons. I’d personally cite the fact that it was my first time in childhood seeing black characters in a game. The series is like a tradition for some, myself included, regularly playing through the games even after 25 years.
As a French person myself, I’m particularly proud of Dotemu, Guard Crush, and Lizardcube’s work. I cannot wait to get my hands on this.
