Warzone Console Players are Disabling Crossplay to Avoid Cheaters

Warzone players have begun to disable crossplay due to the rampant amount of cheaters that have been infiltrating the game.

The most popular multiplayer titles on the market all have one thing in common, they all have to handle cheaters. Call of Duty: Warzone is trying to navigate those waters right now. Console players have even turned off crossplay with PC to try to avoid those pesky cheaters.

Per Eurogamer, players have continued to complain about cheaters who are still in the game. Some have been able to hit players through walls, use automatic aim-bots, have no recoil on their shots, and plenty of other unfair abilities. If you make your way over to any of the Modern Warfare or Warzone subreddits, you will find a plethora of players sharing their experiences and frustration with these cheaters.

Infinity Ward has already stated that they have banned more than 70,000 cheaters in the game. However, it looks like the problem is still running rampant, mainly on PC. Historically, cheaters have always stayed in the PC environment due to the difficulty of getting these cheats enabled on consoles.

This has lead to console players turning off the crossplay feature in Warzone. Unfortunately, this can mean longer matchmaking times. Hell, even Infinity Ward wants you to enable crossplay because when you try to search for a match with the feature disabled, the game asks if you want to enable crossplay.

Eurogamer stated that they were able to find a match after 3 minutes of matchmaking with crossplay disabled. With it turned on? Only 30 seconds.

While you can disable crossplay for Warzone on PS4, the Xbox One is a different story. Warzone prevents you from finding a lobby on Xbox One if the feature is disabled. Though, some have had some luck brute-forcing their way into finding a match with the feature disabled on Xbox. On PC however, you are not able to disable crossplay on Warzone.

Cheaters are always unavoidable and can really take the fun out of the experience. Especially if you have been playing one match of Warzone for almost 30 minutes only to be shot by a cheater using an aim-bot. Hopefully, Infinity Ward is able to get the situation under wraps not too long from now.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you are only interested in Warzone you can download the mode for free on those platforms.

Did they change it so that you could disable cross play on Warzone? I never remember being able to do that. That's why I haven't played it I cannot stand people who cheat like this.

Cent So they gave us an update today to add "security" and put "cheaters with cheaters" so we'll see how this actually goes. I doubt it'll change much and I really don't understand why they won't add an anti-cheat. People are getting very very tired of this shit.


That's actually so bad I'm not going to lie, why would they not add an ANTI CHEAT it makes no sense at all.

An example would be EAC in apex legends vs fortnite or rust. EAC gives you what you pay for and even that AC can be bypassed through signed drivers. Valorant "should" have the best AC once it's fully online.


They need something man. It's so out of hand and just completely unplayable. I wish they would actually care for once.


They need an intrusive AC it's the only viable option on PC no matter the game


I don't get how a multi-million dollar company did not think of having an AC on their game.


In my eyes they really just don't care enough to. I mean they knew the mode was gonna be big it just makes no sense. Instead of getting an AC they add "more security" to the game which really never does anything.


Yeah they must 100% of known the game was going to be a smash, it's just so illogical to not care about it or even not think about it.

I've come across some cheaters in this game why would you even want to mod a great game with Warzone? As a past console modder and switched systems to PC I don't feel the need to mod on a game like Warzone and that's saying something. Why do people need to mod this sort of game, are you bad at the game or something I don't get it? Yin I saw that you can turn off crossplay on Xbox by going into privacy settings on the Xbox and turning it off there. I'm just not sure how or if it works in Modern Warfare. But yeah, sucks you can't turn it off or select which consoles you want to play with in the game itself on Xbox. I mainly play Ground War and there are quite a number of hackers. I'm curious why since your account paid for the game or how you bypass losing your game. Or it is just wealthy people doing it?


I don't believe that trick works because I think it makes you turn it on to play warzone unfortunately.

Silky I don't believe on xbox that you can actually disable crossplay and still play warzone, I'm pretty sure it forces you to have it enabled so that sucks.
yeah, nah. You can't disable it on Xbox. Takes the piss.
