Microsoft, however, have given many assurances that that will not be the case for their upcoming console, and they have done so once again. In a statement to Famitsu, the company confirmed that the Xbox Series X will launch in Japan in Holiday 2020, alongside its release in Western markets.
They also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Bright Memory: Infinite, Scarlet Nexus, and Halo: Infinite will all also be available on the console in Japan at launch. Curiously, one game that hasn’t been confirmed for a local Japanese release on the system so far is Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Both Sony and Microsoft have previously given assurances that their next-gen consoles will be releasing around the globe simultaneously, and both are still on track to release this Holiday.
