Nielsen’s survey polled 5000 gamers between August 21 and September 17, and aggregated data from a staggering 417,433,251 online conversations. That's a lot of fuss and expense to prove what the rest of us could have told ‘em for nothing – Modern Warfare 3 is the top of everyone’s wishlist. Yours too, even if you haven’t realised it yet.
In quantitative terms, though, Activision’s wartime shooter wins out big-time, taking a 27% share of votes on Nielsen’s countdown. That’s more than double the number cast for its chief rival, Battlefield 3, which gets a 12% share down in seventh place.
The rest of the Nielsen ‘Games to Watch’ top 20 is as follows, along with the percentage of respondents who voted each game into their top five. If Madden NFL 12 seems somewhat highly placed that’s because the survey was conducted Stateside – which probably explains why FIFA’s in 14th place. Otherwise there are few surprises below
