New World Interactive has announced the console version of Insurgency: Sandstorm has been delayed.
According to the notice posted to Twitter, the development team will take the additional time to “improve the Day 1 experience” of the studio’s first-ever console title. The extra time will also allow the team to “deliver a more complete and optimized version of the game,” as well as explore the “exciting possibilities of a next-gen console release” in addition to PS4 and Xbox One.

Originally, the plan was to release the game on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, but the console version was delayed to 2019. The console version was then pushed to spring 2020, and earlier this year it was given an August release.
The team-based, tactical FPS focusing on close-quarters combat and objective-oriented multiplayer was released on PC back in December 2018.
Since then, New World Interactive has released numerous updates. The latest free content update added night maps, NVGs, and new weapons.
