Said report mentions that Lockhart will have 7.5 GB of usable RAM- which will presumably be GDDR6, since that’s what the Xbox Series X is using (with 13.5 GB of usable RAM), and having 7.5 GB of GDDR5 RAM would make little sense, since that would be far less than what the Xbox One X already offers. Meanwhile, the console will reportedly also have a slightly underclocked CPU (though no further details are given out for this), as well as a GPU performing at a clock speed of 4 teraflops (as opposed to the 12 teraflops of the Xbox Series X- or the 6 teraflops of the Xbox One X, on paper at least).
Additionally, it seems Microsoft are reportedly targeting resolutions of 1440p for Lockhart (which would, again, be lower on paper than the current-gen Xbox One X, and the next-gen Xbox Series X, of course)- or at the very least a baseline of 1080p. Something called the “Lockhart mode” is also mentioned, which is included in the Xbox Series X’s devkit (reportedly codenamed “Dante”). Lockhart mode reportedly allows developers to hit the levels of performance that Microsoft is targeting with the less powerful variant.
Recently, mentions of Lockhart were also found in the Windows OS, while Microsoft have also trademarked the “Xbox Series” branding, with rumours and speculation suggesting that the Lockhart will be called Xbox Series S (or something along those lines, at any rate).
Another recent report mentioned that Microsoft had planned on revealing the Lockhart during an event in June, but have now pushed that event back until August.
