Spelunky 2 is Finally Releasing Next Month

Spelunky 2 at long last has a release date, and it's set to launch in a little over a month.

It has been a long time coming, but Spelunky 2 finally has a release date and it’s set to land quite soon.

Revealed during today’s PlayStation State of Play live stream, Mossmouth Games announced that Spelunky 2 will officially be releasing next month on September 15 for PS4 and PC. The highly-anticipated sequel was first unveiled all the way back at Paris Games Week in 2017 and was originally slated to release last year. However, developer Derek Yu eventually announced that the roguelike title had been pushed out of this window.

The release date announcement for Spelunky 2 was accompanied by tons of new gameplay footage for Spelunky 2 as well, along with some explanatory voiceover from Yu himself. Yu talked about why he chose to return to the world of Spelunky and what he hoped that this sequel would accomplish.
