Kinda Funny's Imran Khan has revealed on ResetEra that Sony has approached all major third party companies, offering them more than Microsoft for similar exclusivity deals. Khan claims that:
There isn't a major third party out there Sony failed to approach asking what kind of deals they could work out. Some had content, some had games, some had content and games. It is not like Microsoft was not willing to offer, they just didn't want to pay the asking price, because Sony approached with pretty high numbers in the first place.
That "PlayStation Advantage" branding and "Console Exclusive" wording are both going to get a lot of use in the next few years.
It is advisable to take this rumor with a grain of salt given that there has been no official confirmation about this from Sony itself. However, given the firm's aggressive "PlayStation Advantage" marketing over Marvel's Avengers, something like this wouldn't be all out of the ordinary moving forward. Furthermore, it is still unclear which companies actually agreed to sign exclusivity deals with Sony when approached.
That said, this further stokes the flames of the seemingly never-ending "console wars" debate where Sony seems intent on giving potential buyers major reasons to purchase its next-generation console instead of Microsoft's, even if it means receiving considerable backlash from some portion of the gaming community.
