The firm’s marketing VP Mary Yee said on PlayStation.com: “Today, I am pleased to share with you our first global spot for PlayStation that showcases some of the immersive gameplay you will experience on the new PS5 console.
“In our first global digital ad for the PS5 console, you’ll see the new console’s features come to life through a young woman’s eyes and her movements.”
Sony will reportedly reveal its “next announcement” regarding PlayStation 5 this month. That’s according to a new report from Bloomberg, which cites an anonymous source from the PlayStation firm.
The publication did not specify if the announcement would come via a digital event or a scheduled news drop, such as the one clarifying PS5’s compatibility with PS4 accessories published this month.
Sony is yet to reveal release or pricing information for PlayStation 5, and August could potentially fit within the traditional timeline for pre-orders.
Macquarie Capital analyst Damian Thong recently told Bloomberg he expects the standard PS5 console to cost around $500, and the digital version around $400.
Altogether, the analyst expects Sony to sell more than 6 million units by the end of March next year.
“I think the core of Sony PlayStation early-adopters will snap up the first several million units quickly,” he said. “With backward compatibility, their existing game library will work with the new console, so the new machine would be usable right away.”
