Evil Genius 2: World Domination finally made its big reveal back at E3 2019 after being announced in 2017. The modern take on the cult classic simulation game seemed fun in our early previews and it was on track for a 2020 release. However, due to the impact of COVID-19, the team at Rebellion has decided to push the game back to 2021.

This delay is, of course, not surprising. So many games, both big and small, are being delayed because of the worldwide pandemic. At this point, it’s almost more newsworthy when a game makes its release date. While it stinks for Evil Genius 2: World Domination fans to have to wait, I think they’d rather just play the game at its best.
If you’ve yet to see the game in action, it’s worth a look. Especially for fans of simulation games. You play as an evil genius building their secret lair. Over the course of the game, you’ll work toward world domination and fight against those pesky members from the Forces of Justice.
While the game is delayed, the team at Rebellion is working on a closed beta. Once this launches, we can probably expect to hear much about the game in the coming months. Hopefully, the team can capture the spirit of the original, while also updating it for a modern audience.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination is set to launch sometime next year on PC. While you wait, you might check out something like Tropico 6 or Cultist Simulator to get your fix.
