World of Warcraft: Shadowlands finally has a release date. The latest WoW expansion takes players to the land of the dead at the end of October. To celebrate and drum up hype, the team at Activision-Blizzard started to release the next collection of their animated shorts. The first one in the Afterlives line gives players a look at Uther finally casting aside Arthas. It’s a hefty scene, but worth the watch. Check it out below.

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is adding some fun stuff. The different factions should make leveling alts a bit more interesting. And the starting zone improvements really are a godsend. I mean, the game is nearly two decades old at this point. It’s great to see them continuing to find new ways to bring rookie players up to speed more quickly.
That said, if you were already feeling a bit bored by WoW‘s gameplay almost twenty years in, I’m not sure if there’s much here to convince you to come back. It’s not bad, by any means. The game could just really use the only kind of shaking up that comes about in an actual sequel. But, with that nowhere in sight, hardcore fans will find lots to love in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands. At the very least, the Afterlives shorts continue the long-line of great cinematics the team pumps out.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands comes to PC on October 27. That’s about two months away, so I would expect a new Afterlives short every two weeks or so until we hit release.
