Modern Warfare 3′s engine is "a Porsche" Critics "Have No Idea"

Sledgehammer Games general manager Glen Schofield has responded again to criticism of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s ageing engine. “I’ve worked on a lot of engines over my lifetime and spent a lot of time putting graphics in to them and this thing is a Porsche,” Schofield told CVG.

“And what I mean by that is that it is stream-lined, everything in it is perfectly freaking clean. You can tell it’s been worked on for years. It’s easy to upgrade.

“We worked with engines before that are like fucking spaghetti. You can’t work on a part and put it back in without messing with everything else.

“I’ve said this before – I’m not shipping an engine, I’m shipping a game. So that’s why I’m going to talk about the game. You can talk about your engine all you want. It’s not fun.”

Schofield said that despite utilising the same engine, the upgradable nature of the tech means Modern Warfare 3′s levels are much bigger, and have greater verticality, than Modern warfare 2′s – on top of graphical improvements.

“If you put Modern Warfare 2 next to Modern Warfare 3 you would see a huge difference. Look at all the character models, look at all the gun models, look at the reflections, look at the water.

“There is so much that we’ve added, so when someone says ‘cut and paste’, I don’t even want to talk to them because they don’t know. They just don’t know. They have no idea.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 arrives on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November.

Nicasus I don't care what engine they use or how they call it, as long as the game looks good. MW2 looked good, MW3 will look even better.

Well , they said that the engine has been upgraded ( More details added , new models , better verticality , better effects) But i have seen gameplay from XP and as far as i know , it looks exactly like MW3 . (Yes , i've seen more detail nd stuff but still)

but in the end i would rather have an upgraded engine i know and love than test a new one out and have it suck... not sayin bf3 is bad i just know what im getting with mw3.

i think mw3 will have more sales than bf3 cuz cods awesome francjize but black ops was a let down so that will ruin abit of sales for mw3

AAmbitionsIsBack Face it. MW3 will sell more because it's a Call of Duty. People are going to talk **** and for one, COD is the longest running series that has had one of the best games every year if not the top game every year when released. Now yes I bet it will sell more, maybe itll be better, maybe itll be worse than BF3. Either way, the games are not out yet so don't be **** sayin that "oh mw3 is gonna be better" when you have no clue. Just play the damn game, if you dont like one, dont buy it and give your money to the companies. One last thing. If you **** about Cod Black Ops and give it all these stupid names that may sound funny but ARE NOT, go try to make a game that would be 1/4 of how good black ops would be becuase you would not come close.


i dont think i would be able to cuz its not my job to make games and i dont run a billion dollar company specifcally devoted to makin games. just statin the obvious

they are talking about how in the future they will not be talking about the engine and gave us a reason why they didnt in the past.

cant believe how much you guys bitch about engines and sales both games are great and they both have there ups and downs be thankful they're actually making these incredible games.
