Microsoft Announce Novel Kinect Interface

Microsoft Research has revealed an amazing new experiment that uses Kinect and a clever projector to turn any surface into an interactive touch-based interface.

As you'll see in the demo video below, the new Omnitouch system lets the user operate a virtual touch panel on anything from their arm or hand to a wall or desk in front of them.

What's really interesting is how a panel can be assigned to a moving object and the system automatically adjusts the projection to stay with the object.

It detects multi-point touch and can even use multiple surfaces at ones. No more reading - just watch and want one...

we have all of these amazing smart phones, that can do triple or even more than that can do. also, It is probably a crazy price and who wants to lug around a big kinect on your shoulder?


This is probably a prototype and the first stage of making a computer that you can put on a wall and project onto anything. This could be the start of holographic computers. Who knows?
