Analyst Predicts Modern Warfare 3 Sales will Double Battlefield 3

Sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are likely to hit 16 million units in the fourth quarter of the year, according to Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who believes Battlefield 3 will sell eight million copies globally during the same timeframe.

Pachter told Forbes that the two rival shooters should generate over $1.4 billion in revenue in the three month period, representing 15 percent of total packaged game sales.

He also thinks Modern Warfare 3 could sell an additional eight million copies in 2012 and Battlefield 3 another two million units, with many gamers choosing to pick up both games.

"I'd guess that around half of the console copies of Battlefield 3 will be bought by people who also buy Modern Warfare 3, so around two to three million will buy both," he said. "I don't see much cannibalization of the titles."

MW3 is a well known game already and so is bf3 but mw3 will have the same play styles which everyone likes. bf3 has, in my opinion, broken away from bfbc2 and i don't like it. How have they lost? Of course MW3 sales will be more than BF3 anyone thinks otherwise is stupid . And how can you infer that MW3 has the same playing style from before without playing it? BF3 fans just wanted to prove that BF3 is better that MW3(they both suck to me GEARS FTW).
And in their eyes they already won. And also no one likes the SAME PLAY STYLE EVERY GAME. Not saying MW3 is the same play style. Probably will play way different due to the new kill streak function.

Why are you basing it on BC2? DICE wanted this game to be more like the original Battlefield style of play, like it was in Battlefield 2.
