Spider-Man Director Comments on Peter Parker Remodel for PS5

Bryan Intihar reassures and asks for fans of Spider-Man to trust Insomniac on Peter Parker's remodel for next-gen following mixed feedback.

Yesterday Sony and Insomniac Games gave us new information regarding some of the new features we can expect in Spider-Man: Remastered for the PlayStation 5 with the most talked about subject being the complete remodel for the game’s main protagonist Peter Parker. Naturally, everyone went to Twitter to explain their feelings which ended up being relatively mixed. Due to the feedback Spider-Man Creative Director Bryan Intihar made a statement on the social media platform giving more explanation as to the reasoning behind on their decision.

As stated from Insomniac originally, the decision behind the change was due to “finding a better facial match” for Yuri Lowenthal who does the voice acting and performance capture for Peter. Intihar pushed by saying “We care as much about this character as your attachment to him, so please know we didn’t make this decision/change lightly. He later continues, “…I hope you can trust us that this decision is what we feel is best for the future of the franchise and our upcoming goals for this beloved Marvel character.”

It does make sense as to why they made the change whether we like it or not and I’m sure it is the right move moving forward. At the very least we still got Miles and he looks great in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Spider-Man: Remastered will only be available to those who buy the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales on PS5 or through upgrading from the PS4 version to the PS5.

You don't need an identical facial match for the performance capture data, that doesn't make sense. Most actors doing performance capture don't have the face shape of the character they are playing.
