Confirming the news to Push Square earlier today, developer KT Racing revealed that they’re working on a patch right now, that will enable TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2 to be played on the PS5. At the current time, it’s unclear whether this patch will arrive in time for the launch of Sony’s next-gen console on November 12.
Another game that was included in the list of titles that wouldn’t be backwards compatible with the PS5 was PS VR shooter DWVR. Posting on Reddit three days ago, a member of developer Mad Triangles revealed that they’re actively working on a patch to bring the VR shooter to the PS5, but they aren’t sure whether it’ll be ready in time for the launch of the PS5.
Not every game will be able to be updated for PS5. It looks like Shadwen is staying put on current-gen hardware, as a Frozenbyte representative told Push Square that “for some reason, Shadwen freezes on the loading screen. If this happened on one of our newer games, we’d probably figure out the reason quickly. Unfortunately, Shadwen is quite old, using an older version of our engine, and we don’t have it up and running anymore.”
We've updated the list of PS4 games not backwards compatible underneath, adding an asterisk to titles which are working on getting a title update.
DWVR*
Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One
TT Isle of Man - Ride on the Edge 2*
Just Deal With It!
Shadow Complex Remastered
Robinson: The Journey
We Sing
Hitman Go: Definite Edition
Shadwen
Joe's Diner
In all, the PS5 will be backwards compatible with well over 4,000 titles. There was some head-scratching when Sony revealed the list of games that wouldn’t be playable on the PS5 last week, as it was buried in a support page, but now that list is getting a little less mysterious.
