Thieves Steal Millions from Xbox Live Accounts

Thousands of Xbox Live users have fallen victim to a phishing scheme perpetrated by online thieves.

The scam entailed sending emails to users directing them to a phoney website offering free Microsoft Points. To redeem the points, individuals were asked to enter confidential information, allowing the criminals to access their bank accounts.

Craftily, the criminals took only small amounts of money over a protracted period of time, making the theft hard to detect.

According to The Sun, which broke the story, gamers in 35 countries have fallen foul of the scam, with the average lost approximately £100 (around $155).

Either way I only lost $3.00; I've already contacted Microsoft support, they gave me 800MSP for the issue. Anyone else get it?

only place to get free ms points is from Rewards.xbox.com it is made by microsoft and the ms points go straight to your account after you reach an ammount and it is the 15th day of the month.

serves you right to have a credit card when ever someone says let me mod your avatar or sumit take off the credit card first then send him it because knowing them they will do sumit w/it besides there is something called a shop where you go and get ms points or gold instead of using credit card

This is one of the Main reasons you don't put a credit card on you're Xbox live account.
