Treyarch Hiring For ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 2?’

In what will come as likely a shock to nobody, it looks like Treyarch is back at work, hiring programmers for their next Call of Duty title. What may come as a bit of news to fans is that apparently, it looks like the game in question will not be merely another entry into the series, but Black Ops 2, a direct sequel to their best-selling game of all time.That’s according to ThatVideoGameBlog, who are claiming that the latest issue of OPMUK is dropping a sizable number of hints that Treyarch is not only staffing up for their next inevitable CoD title, but that it’s seeming more and more likely that the game will be a direct sequel to Black Ops.

We’ve known that there was a likelihood that a sequel was in the works for some time, with Treyarch posting job openings in March, and a Community Manager confirming that a Black Ops sequel was possible in the studio’s future. The fact of the matter is that Activision and Treyarch would have to be out of their minds to not be planning a sequel to the game, given its record-shattering sales.

But while the game itself is a foregone conclusion, whether it will be a continuation of the first game’s plot or merely give another dose of the cinematic presentation and new mechanics of Black Ops is anyone’s guess. Without a doubt, the biggest surprise in all of this news is just how far off many predictions were in the wake of the Infinity Ward/Activision split.

Some expected that Treyarch – perhaps unfairly known as the makers of ‘inferior’ CoD titles – would absolutely bomb on Black Ops, due to inferior gameplay and fan backlash over Activision’s legal drama with Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward. But the opposite took place, with Treyarch delivering the highest-grossing title in the history of the series, and Modern Warfare 3 grabbing headlines already, even without the studio’s founders on board.


Given the mass exodus of employees from Infinity Ward, and regardless of how you may feel about Activision’s way of doing business, or the quality of Black Ops, the fact is that Treyarch is now the most experienced studio currently working on the Call of Duty brand. And no matter how the games turn out, it is seeming more and more likely that both 2011 and 2012 will be seeing the release of a new CoD installment.

cod1, cod2, cod4, cod waw. the only cods that deserve to be played. cod4 being the best of them all. everything else can die.

-xBeY- In my opinion all they need to do is go back to the basics, forget all this pro perk and killstreak shite. Make classic 3,5,7 killstreaks, after all the old call of duty's made all the fan base, and now people are just buying it because it is called 'call of Duty'. I know someone will say 'it's not all about multiplayer', but im afraid it is.

I enjoy playing WaW and CoD4 as they have different weapons, diffrent designs and they were SIMPLE. All the new cods are just the same shxt diffrent game.

Also, i enjoy playing waw becuase quickscoping was virtually non-existent and cod4 it was not a problem. BUT, on mw2 is was IMPOSSIBLE to find a S&d game were there was no dumb quickscopers making montages thinking they were called grizz.

An extra point is that on cod4/waw all guns had advantages and disadvantages which made it a fair game but with MW3 there are those guns that are '3in1' in a sense they can snipe, kill in 1 bullet and their general purpose.

Another thing that made me play CoD4 was the private match glitching aspect, chuck old school on and you can get out of nearly every map, elevators etc. Then you go online and they were next to impossible and if you were able to do the glitch the location of them on the map made it pointless.

Sounds sad but i have been playing CoD on console since the 3rd one and they are getting worse every release, and i can assure you that anyone else in my boat would agree.


I totaly agree mate, they only get worse when the companies are trying to hard. When they put to much into the game you lose the good feeling you got in cod4/5 they never gets boring. Black ops got boring after 2-3 months and mw3 will probably follow in its steps.

I can still enjoy a good game of cod 4 and it is still great after beeing out for like 4 years now. its great not for all the extra features the studios put in games now days but for its simpleness


Sorry guys but that's how everything works on this planet. Everything innovates, and if you want all the CoDs to stop doing that (lol even though the Call of Duty franchise hardly innovates at all) then just play W@W and CoD4.

-Rebel I think Cod: Bops 2 will be a good game personally. I know Treyarch will probably steal ideas that Infinity Ward put in Mw3 and twist things around. I trust that the next Cod will be a hit. Even if its not, I'm still buying it. But I believe Treyarch's next Cod will beat Mw3 in sale's and make a new record. I know you guys will probably be like no, the next Treyarch game will be trash and won't top Mw3 sales. But hey, Even if you're not buying the game others will. I haven't bought a copy of Mw3 yet. And personally I don't like it cause IW tried to hard. You don't have to buy Cod:Bop2 for it not to be a good game. At the end of the day other people will buy their game and chances are it will top Mw3. Did you know 400,000 people still play Cod: Black Ops right now? Across all systems , I bet the majority of those gamer's come from xbox.

Tried too hard? they used the same textures , engine, and mostly the same guns and just stole theater mode from black ops and added elite which doesnt work half the time.

IRiCH Black Ops wasn't the best game but i would rather play WaW than all the other CoDs, it was simple, no glitches to start with, balanced guns and perks, simple killstreaks so its more fair.
um um mp40 is overpowerd >:(
