Gears of War 3 adds 'Fenix Rising' map pack on Jan. 17

The "Fenix Rising" map pack for Gears of War 3 will decorate players who are already well-versed in rolling shotguns. The new add-on, due on January 17, 2012, for 800 MSP ($10), adds five new maps, four character skins and "Re-up," the Gears version of Call of Duty's "Prestige." Here, it allows players to rank through level 100 multiple times for "exclusive emblems and weapon skins."

The Re-up can be done three times to unlock the following weapon skins:


  • Re-Up Plasma – Animated flowing plasma in gold.
  • Re-Up Omen – Shiny, red Omen.
  • Re-Up Electric – Animated, golden electric shocks.


    "Fenix Rising" is the third of four packs bundled with the $30 Gears Season Pass. The "underdeveloped" campaign DLC, RAAM's Shadow, was the most recent release, coming after the co-op focused "Horde Command Pack."

    Most people play Gears 1 and 2. Gears 3 doesnt take as much skill.

    GibbityTree Getting Gears 3 for xmas and I must say, it's my favorite shooter besides Halo. I remember getting the Gears 1 which was my first xbox game. Good times man, good times...

    bit late not many people play now.


    Maybe not compared to MW3, but I play Gears every night and can say without doubt that a lot of people still play this game.

    Gears of War 3 has basically thrown away the beauty of so called Pre-Order and Limited Edition. Because in this pack is Savage Kantus and Thrashball Cole. I am a MAJOR gears fanatic and spent around $45 for Every DLC Character even on buying an Adam Fenix so i wouldnt have to use mine that came with my limited edition. Now they are releasing all of this makes me sick. Epic Games is now a joke.

    Inception20 Hopefully when you re-up theirs a sign that shows you actually did. Dont want to go in a match with people thinking i just started the game .

    Why do the game developers always have to add something like prestige mode. (CoD, RDR, BF and now GoW)

    iAmMasterF hahahaha gears of war 3 multiplayer is EMPTY. no one plays on it because it's incredibly n00b friendly, i mean it changes it's core gameplay to be n00b friendly. at least cod doesn't do that.

    so by making players 'prestige' gives them a more of a reason to play the game, even tho they don't enjoy it.

Anyone can hop on CoD and do well with only a couple of games practice. You cannot do that in ANY Gears game.I can't believe you just compared Gears to Cod(the most noob friendly shooter to hit console, plus the Guy behind the game even said it is noob friendly) Thinking before you post shouldn't be THAT HARD.
    So true. In cod its whoever shoots first. You can go good in one game and go bad the next. I have mw3 and played my friend who loves the game. We played a couple of matches and i was on the top of the list the whole time. He was like dude your beast but then i told him that cod doesn't really take any skill and is designed strictly for causal play. Unlike in gears where its actually hard to take a guy on. You have to line your shots perfectly while wallbouncing his shots. And teamwork in this game is crucial. A two man team with hammerburst can take a five man team thats uncoordinated. Their not even a noobish thing in gears. That why people who buy the and go negative every match stops playing cuz its too hard. Play gears and you will know what im talking about
