Should Exploiters be Punished for MW3 Devs’ Mistakes? Bowling Answers

The infamous prestige token glitch is coming to an end with the next Modern Warfare 3 patch (1.08), but this particular glitch has raised an interesting debate between the “abusers” and MW3′s creative strategist, Robert Bowling.

Robert Bowling believes that a fix is included in “the next title update for MW3″ to rectify the prestige token glitch, but with all the bans that Infinity Ward issued, this issue definitely left its mark. Some players, who admittedly abused the glitch, are arguing with Robert Bowling that since the team behind MW3 dropped the ball in terms of game design, the exploiters shouldn’t be punished for it. Bowling explained “we will fix it [prestige token glitch]. However, it’s important “we make it clear that its not okay to exploit, even while we’re fixing.” One angry player questioned Bowling on the merit of banning players for exploiting a design flaw, Bowling reiterated players are ”not banned for there being a glitch, banned for abusing it.” In regard to the argument of how can the security team hand out bans for problems in the game itself, Bowling explained why it’s not his (security team’s) fault, “unless I came over to your console and got you prestige tokens that you knew you didn’t earn. Then no, I promise you, I am not.”

Will51 A 2 day ban is fine but to reset your rAnk is unnecessary

Ya resetting your rank makes absolutely no sense especially when you exploited the glitch to rank up faster they should definitely reward you for finding the glitch and let you keep your fake rank.

Maybe they should punish you and give you half exp for how ever long you glitched your double exp.


That's actually a good idea. Complete reset + half XP forever :D

Agree completely if you glitch then there should not be any if's And's or but's

To those who didn't know you could get banned:
Look into stuff before you do it.
Glitches that give you something as rediculous as unlimited prestige tokens should be looked into before you just do them.

xxpunkxx Did they have to do what they did? 10,000 deaths? I know alot of ppl who did it, and they still haven't got banned, Ive been banned and now lvl 80, FU IW, You're lucky i didn't go sell mw3, but i paid 60 for it.

Why would they care if you sold it?? you already gave them your $60, great comeback.

ummm mw3 got the award in december or november during the VGA's(4 got wich 1) for best fps

LOL mw3 is not the best game of the year **** skyrim already has game of the year and Bethesda has studio of the year

It does not matter how many updates they do to the game, more exploits will be found and "security" will be bypassed just like any other game. Just have fun with the game and if you are going to do any type of mod and concerned about your console and gamertag then just do it offline.

Some people will just never understand, if you are going to do the crime you need to be willing to do the time. The next wave of bans for the proficiency glitch are already underway, how many more people are going to be upset over this one?
