Modern Warfare 3 – Panic Knifing and Extreme Conditioning Are Here To Stay

Not a big fan of being “panic knifed” in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3? Get used to it. Creative Strategist, Robert Bowling, responds to fans’ dislike of the current knifing system and the state of the Extreme Conditioning perk.

If you’re using the standard button layout for Modern Warfare 3, then you know the swing of your blade is only a tiny right thumb click away (on consoles) from downing your enemy in one foul swoop. This reflex tends to be the first reaction of one who finds themselves in a tricky situation all of a sudden. Hence the term, “panic knifing”. This has been a part of the Call of Duty franchise for ages now. But more and more, it seems to be receiving a lot of “hate” from the Call of Duty community. Many see it as a “cheap” and “easy” way to get kills. To add insult to injury, it definitely isn’t fun being knifed after having shot your enemy a couple of times first. In a virtual argument with fans on Twitter, Robert Bowling shares his view on the infamous “panic knife”.

“The lesson here is 1) Get a headshot at that range. – or – 2) Don’t get so close to your enemy,” Bowling argued. He also stresses caution when turning corners to avoid being knifed. “Of course you’ll get stabbed if you run into someone. Thats the risk of not taking your time and not checking your corners.” Obviously, Bowling is ‘for’ the current system of knifing.

Bowling was also recently asked numerous times if anything is going to be done about the Extreme Conditioning perk, which currently allows players to sprint for longer periods of time. Past iterations of this perk allowed players to sprint indefinitely. When asked if Infinity Ward would consider changing the perk back to Marathon, Bowling answered, “No. We purposely used Extreme Conditioning rather than Marathon…” As for any other sort of tweaks, Bowling stated, “nothing planned. Extreme Conditioning is fine as is, in my opinion.”

On a minor note, Bowling was also asked if shotguns would ever be seeing any further tweaks since the recent patch 1.08 as some users declare them to still be underpowered. He replied, “anything’s possible, but no plans currently.”

I haven't played Call of Duty: MW3 since it came out and I don't really know or care about the differences in the game after all of the updates it has received and stuff, but one thing to say is that it's getting worse.

I've noticed in MW3 since it's released that the play list's have slowly decreased (and it still is.) and more of the play list's from the older games like Black Ops and COD4 are starting to fill up a little more.

lol sorry but evrytime i panic knife or knife some1 i always died 1st and mayb its because i only play Hardcore hate regular takes a lot of bullet to kill some1.... actually thats not a bad K/D at all and no my is K/D 1.50



Lol you mean takes more skill to play? If you have a 1.5 k/d playing hardcore which takes 1 bullet to kill people.... Then I dont know what to tell you...
I never get panic knifed because my UMP is too much for them to handle :P My K/d Is 1.92, 2.3 on FFA, Have anything to say to that one? Oh yeah let me guess... UMP OMG YOU N00B 0V3rP0w3r3d 7ryh4rd Gun! W0w N00b.

bro not everybody is like u sitting back and staring at a corner till someone passes by. there are some people like me that don't walk around checking every corner. We just rush, kill, and dropshot kids. Yes, i'm one of those try hards.

iite bowling learn to make maps first but till then we will be running into our enemies. "Not Checking Your corners" the kind of maps you guys make will take me a whole game to check corners when i move around the maps. There are just too many corners and some corners don't deserve to be checked because u don't expect anybody to be that garbage to camp in the randomest corner that has nothing to do with the game or match your playing. This is the reason i F*** hate interchange and downturn. Too many corners and objects by that i mean way tooooooooooooo many corners and objects.

ikr and i promise you anyone who is a soldier can fight through the pain of getting stabbed in the gut with a knife for the first 5 secs enough to where they can put a couple rounds into the guy who just stabbed them. Anyways the knifing in Call of Duty is way unrealistic I personally think they should go back to how Cod 2 was with the double tap bash and maybe stop being lazy and join the already growing numbers of games who have designed an "assassination" melee action, it's not that hard and in the past 3 Call of Duty's they have had it in the campaign.

And i bet your the kid who camps in the corner with the unbalanced gun of the game screaming "OMG HAX!" whenever you get killed, this site has a 13+ age restriction and with language like that your no way over the age of 12
